Why do fans hate luongo

I think some fans are tired of his inconsistency. Cause in the end, we are "Canucks" fans, and we want to see the Canucks win.

If they feel a goalie is dragging down a team, it would not be a good thing. He's been underwhelming for a while, he's not great so far. That's average of above 4 goals allowed per game, that is not great goaltending at all. I don't think anyone "hates" him, a lot of them prefer Schneider.

They jump on the bandwagon and just do not know how big an impact Luongo had on our team going from fringe teams like Calgary to the elite team that it is today.

They simply have no appreciation for Luongo because they do not know that we were terrible before him. It's easy to blame the goalie Because he melts down at the most inopportune time and has such a fragile state of mind. Always thinks the world is out to get him and question his abilities. You think people around the league say Luongo is fragile and inconsistent they're just making stuff up? Remember a few years ago he was voted the players most GM's would build a team around and hyped to death.

Ya people hate him for no reason Lou has worked very hard, performed very well and is a great Canuck but like everything Its happening to Lou and will happen to every team member in turn. He may not have a future in Vancouver but that does not lessen whats hes given us in the past!

Scapegoat and unrealistic expectations. People just look at the hottest goalie every year and expect Luongo to match that guy. Plus people don't seen to have a clue how hard it is to play goal with such pressure. Contrast that with Cory who's confident but humble He performs and takes accountability when he doesn't.

A Picture says a thousand words Because in the past he was too cocky but not backing it up. I don't have much respect for that. I don't think you will have to worry about it too much longer. After this year he will be gone. Yeah but does he say stuff to get people to hate him or what? User Info: Freeney. Not a matter of 'hate', but he's known for being one of, if not the best goalie in the NHL.

People always said if he had a real team in front of him like the team he's on now because he was wasting away with the Islanders and Panthers that he would probably go on to backstop a team to multiple Stanley Cups.

He lost against Chicago twice before beating them this season, and coming off of a gold medal performance in that very same city, he was looking to silence all his critics and finally get that monkey off his back User Info: theaub. User Info: boarder He's just overpaid, overhyped by Canucks fans and some of the media, has shown a propensity to choke in the playoffs, and he plays for one of the most hated teams in the league.

To think that one's actions could please the masses is indeed a notion bound in irony; someone will inevitably find something wrong in almost everything. User Info: Vandal Luongo has a reputation of being an elite goaltender. His stats show that he has definite Hall of Fame potential. The problem is, he hasn't done anything to deserve this reputation, so people continually view him as overhyped. The new CBA included the new, fun, cap recapture penalty, which applied to about 20 contracts.

In short, it takes the savings gained by stretching out the payments over the tail years of the contract and re-applies them to the cap, averaged out over how many years are left on the contract, if the player were to retire before the contract were over. If the player gets traded to another team, the new team shares somewhat in the pain, but not as much as the team which originally signed the contract.

The Canucks had been asking a pretty steep price for Luongo before the lockout; adding in cap recapture looked to have turned Luongo into essentially an untradeable player. The Canucks were ready to move him in , once it was clear Cory Schneider was ready to be the guy, with Eddie Lack set to ride shotgun.

If he retired before , his new team would have a penalty applied to their cap as well, but not as big as the one faced by the Canucks. A year later, they did find a suitor in Florida. Luongo is playing great. The more he plays great, the longer you assume he plays. The longer he plays, the bigger the cap recapture penalty will be on a yearly basis. A welcome email is on its way.
