During an unrelated investigation by Beckett and Castle, they discovered that the victim, Jack Coonan , had died in precisely the same distinctive way as Johanna Beckett and her colleagues. The killer is eventually identified as Dick Coonan. He took Castle hostage and attempted to talk his way out of the precinct, offering to share with Beckett the identity of the man who hired him.
However, when he attempted to kill Castle, Beckett was forced to shoot him. However, before he could reveal anything, he was killed by a sniper. Under questioning, McCallister at first tried to implicate drug lord Vulcan Simmons. However, Castle and Beckett eventually discovered the connection to the Pulgatti case and confronted McCallister with it.
McCallister confessed to the broad outlines of what happened, but does not name Montgomery or Bracken. McCallister was jailed for accessory to murder.
Meanwhile, Ryan and Esposito eventually identified the sniper, Hal Lockwood. He and his team had been tracking Beckett, attempting to discover how far along her investigation was. When Lockwood himself was compromised, his team ambushed Ryan and Esposito and tortured them for information.
The two were rescued by Castle and Beckett. He kept silent after his arrest, and Beckett visited the jail weekly to interrogate him. Lockwood kills McCallister behind bars and breaks free at his official court hearing. His mission is to come after Beckett.
Castle and Beckett are heading toward Canadian border. Beckett asks Castle to turn back, as in her subconscious state she remembered what Captain Montgomery had said to her when they first met in the archive room. Thanks to Ryan and Esposito, Beckett and Castle get two minutes inside Beckett's apartment so that they could go through notes of Beckett's mother.
While they are still going through the notes and decoding messages written by Beckett's mother in codes, the men from internal affairs arrive and arrest Castle, Beckett as well as Ryan and Esposito. At the precinct, Beckett sees the elephants on her table and remembers that they belonged to her mother. Beckett pulls the elephants apart and find the tape. When the tape is played, Bracken can be heard confessing to blackmailing and killing people. Bracken is holding a press conference, as part of his Presidential campaign.
Beckett arrives to arrest him for the murder of her mother in front of the media. He is handcuffed and taken away.

Going Public? Surprisingly, all leads point to incarcerated former Sen. Castle pays Bracken a jailhouse visit, during which Bracken tells Castle regardless of where his wife is, she is never going to be happy just being Mrs. It turns out that Beckett was in on the whole shebang. Why would Beckett be keeping her friends and family in the dark?
What is she hiding? As it turns out, Beckett is being chased by two teams of highly dangerous people, one of which captures and tortures Castle. Last season dealt with Castle and his demons.
This season opens up with Beckett confronting hers. Is this season going to be more Beckett-centered or was that just a one-episode thing? He tried to kill Beckett, but Castle saved her at the last minute. Lockwood went to jail and refuses to talk. Castle and Beckett have no idea what they have gotten themselves into. Lockwood will stage a spectacular prison break and all hell is going to rain down on our favorite NYPD team. Things will get intense and the producers have promised a jaw dropping cliffhanger.
Crazy about TV. Lost is the best show of all time. I saw that sneak peek a week ago but the point still stands! I cannot wait for the finale!
